Vladivostok: Russia and the Asia-Pacific

Study Abroad

Although a neighbor to the highly successful Pacific Asian nations of Japan, South Korea, and China, Russia's Far East has always lagged in terms of economic development because of historical, geographic, and policy challenges. Today, however, there are several ambitious projects focused on developing this massive and resource-rich Russian region. This program will critically analyze and explore first-hand the business climate in general as well many of these projects in particular -- including the free port, special economic zones, the "Far East Hectare" project, and infrastructure initiatives in both their investment attractiveness and socio-political value.

It is precisely this proximity to strong Asian economies that is moving Vladivostok even more to the forefront in representing Russian business interests in the region. Vladivostok is drawing increasing numbers of visitors from not only Japan, Korea, and China, but also the countries of Southeast Asia, and also India. Tourists, business people, and students are shaping what is truly a multicultural and dynamic city.

Spring 2021/Covid-19 Update: to allow for maximum flexibility, deadlines have been moved to November 1 and deposits will be fully refundable up until it is necessary to process visas – approximately 3-4 weeks prior to arrival.
