Ukrainian for Russian Learners

Short Course

Ukrainian for Russian Learners is an online course aimed at those who have studied Russian for the equivalent of two years or more. It is a great opportunity to familiarize yourself with (or continue study of) another Slavic language and boost your overall understanding and cultural integration should you choose to study in or otherwise visit Ukraine. Two levels are offered, Level 1 (Introductory), and Level 2 (for those who would like to continue beyond the first 5 weeks or otherwise already have a handle on basic Ukrainian).

If you can easily read the course description (see "Level 1" below), your Russian should be sufficient for undertaking this short course. This course will be taught in Russian and will serve to reinforce your Russian language comprehension as well.

For those looking to progress beyond Level 2, contact us via the Inquire now button about possible upcoming groups and/or custom individual study.

"These lessons are perfect for anyone who's interested in the lexical and phonological differences between Ukrainian and Russian. Though they're distinct languages, anyone who's studied Russian will pick up Ukrainian fairly easily: The vocabulary is familiar, the grammar is essentially the same, and the differences in diction are just significant enough to keep things interesting." - Michael Denner, Professor of Russian, Stetson University

"Truly everything is going great with this course. The instructor is wonderful and since there are only three of us, there is plenty of time for individual questions and attention. I definitely intend to sign up for the next part of the course." - Mattingly Gerasimovich, PhD Student, Northwestern University
