Moscow Online: Translation and Interpretation Workshop

Short Course

Join SRAS Assistant Director Josh Wilson in Moscow as he leads this practical overview of translation and interpretation as professional career tracks. This includes discussions of the art and science of translation, guest speakers who will introduce you to the everyday practices of the trades, and an extended workshop experience in which you will translate text with the assistance of an editor. Interpretation will be also be given an interactive workshop in which will you try your hand at consecutive interpretation.

Despite advances in artificial intelligence and electronic translation services, translation and interpretation are two of the fastest growing professions in our globalizing world. The goal of this course is to introduce you to the practical application of your language skills. This course will be geared to helping upperlevel students, recent graduates, or anyone looking for a potential career change to see if these careers may be right for you.

The course is 10 meetings over 6 weeks, with a mix of synchronous and asynchronous (see "Scheduling" below). Some work will be completed on your own and discussed later. Class size is limited to 10. More sessions will be added based on demand.
