Eurasian Foodways: Cooking Vegetarian Georgian

Short Course

Whether you are already a fan of Georgian food or you are not even sure what it is, this is a great opportunity to familiarize yourself with some of the fundamental ingredients and their uses in many popular Georgian dishes. Our focus will be vegetarian and we will reference the book Lobio: The Vegetarian Cuisine of Georgia by Tinatin Mzhavanadze and Michael Denner. Participants in this course will receive a copy of this informative and beautifully illustrated book - a great value in and of itself!

Your host for this course is Michael Denner. Prior to the course you will receive a shopping list (based on ingredients easy to find in your local store*) for the items you will cook together. You will also receive a suggested "menu" with which you might round out a full dinner, referencing other recipes from Lobio, or in consideration of the carnivores in your life, other online recipe sources.

You will meet for three evenings, 5-7pm ET. During each session Michael will discuss the history and variety of Georgian cuisine, looking at such factors as climate and geography.
